California’s Outlook for Security Employment
In the United States, the employment of security guards is expected to increase by 19 percent by 2020, which is about as fast as average for all jobs. Security guards are in demand to protect people and property, and the increase in population and concern about crime in Los Angeles will drive the need for more protection in the city. In the state of California, there were about 136,120 security guards employed in May 2012. The average yearly pay was $27,730, or $13.33 by the hour.
California Financial Aid
The California Student Aid Commission administers financial aid in the state of California. There are a variety of programs available such as the Cal Grant A, California Chafee Grant Program, and California National Guard Education Assistance Award Program.
The Cal Grant A assists California residents with tuition and fees at various institutions in the state. The program includes the entitlement and competitive award as well as an award for students transferring from a California community college to a four-year institution. The California Chafee Grant Program is for individuals who were in foster care. The grant helps students pay for tuition and educational related expenses.
The California National Guard Education Assistance Award offers financial aid to active members of the California National Guard or related programs. Recipients must agree to remain an active member while in the program and use the award to pursue an educational program they do not currently possess.
